9th CEGP Visayas-Wide Student Press Convention | 9th LUBAS Awards for Outstanding Student Publications

September 2012

The Editor in Chief
Official Student Publication

Fellow campus journalist:

Warm greetings from the Regional Office!

The College Editors Guild of the Philippines-Visayas will hold its ninth Visayas-Wide Convention, known as LUBAS on October 24-28, 2012 at Spring Park Mountain Resort, Toledo, Cebu.

LUBAS will provide lectures and workshops on basic, intermediate and advanced journalism skills. Likewise, trainings in different literary genres will be given by skilled media practitioners, literary writers, and political figures. And as part of the Guild’s dedication to educating student journalists regarding the plight of the country, various socio-political discussions will also be featured.

LUBAS is a Cebuano word for core. CEGP holds a firm belief that the core of the writer is the people. This year, CEGP will be awarding the fifth Gawad Rachelle Mae Palang to the campus publication that has published peasant issues in their releases. Awards will also be given for the Best Magazine, Tabloid, Broadsheet and Literary folio.

In this regard, we invite your publication to attend the 9th Lubas, CEGP Visayas-Wide Convention. Registration fee is pegged at TWO THOUSAND FIVE HUNDRED PESOS (P2,500.00). This is inclusive of meals, accommodation, modules, kits, and certificates.

We will send the CHED endorsement as soon as it is available. Attached are the program of activities and pertinent information on the LUBAS AWARDS.

The annual regional fee of SEVEN HUNDRED PESOS (P700.00) per publication will also be collected.
Confirmation of attendance is on or before October 15, 2012.
